meant to be

There are some things that a person just can’t say no to, EVEN if you are on vacation. Which is why I couldn’t say no to my friend, Brenda. Her grandmother celebrated her 100th birthday in July and of ALL the things she could get her, she wanted to see if I could make her a super, spunky red swirl Bagolita. How could I say, “no?”

It was absolutely meant to be – when I looked through my fabric after she described what she was thinking I found ONE chunk just big enough to make her wish come true. Thank you Brenda, for letting me be part of Nanny’s special day!

i’m lovin’ it!

I’m in a birthday club, whose soul purpose was to give each other gifts – the things you would LOVE to spoil yourself with, but that little voice inside your head tells you to, “be a good girl, Janice, just say no.” (I’ve made quite a haul over the years!) One day this summer, I prided myself on building an entire outfit from the waist up from birthday club gifts. As I stood at my sink doing dishes this morning, I smiled at my oh so cute pot that says harmony (and came with the greens!) and inhaled my yummy Caldrea soap. I thought of my birthday club girls who gave them to me and said to myself, “Birthday club. Brilliant.”

NOW, when the yummy soap runs out, do I get to buy more of it because I am hooked, or go back to boring… yummy, yummy all the way!

bagolitas 2.0

I just sat down to work on updates to the bagolitas website and OF COURSE, got totally sidetracked when I decided that I needed to freshen up the Bagolitas logo to reflect the new era – sort of like iPad 4, it’s Bagolitas 2.0.

So I’m TOTALLY crazy about the color green right now (all shades) and I can’t imagine NOT throwing a new color for the swoosh out there… All in favor, say “I!”

rolling!

Hello friends, it has been too long! I can’t even express how excited I am to get Bagolitas rolling again. Closing down the Studio and downsizing the business to fit back into my home was quite honestly, like death by a thousand paper cuts. As thrilled as I was to be heading home and spending the summer with my kids, trusting that this was the right decision wasn’t always easy. BUT, it soon became clear that home is where I needed to be.

Trust the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5

Without going into too many details and over sharing (as I am prone to do!) my daughter had been dealing with anxiety and health issues, which began last spring. They culminated this summer and it has taken all of my focus and energy to be there for her. We are beginning to find answers (Praise God!) and I have felt eternal gratitude for this time to focus on my family. There’s plenty more to share, but let’s talk about the bags for now!

September 1 is right around the corner and no shocker to anyone who knows my over ambitious self – I am not quite ready to go… But I am close! Get ready for a new look because I am over the moon, addicted to RUFFLES, and have been incorporating them into the mix. Check out a sneak preview below!

I’m planning to sew as many things as I can each week and post them on Tuesday’s. They will definitely have a boutique feel and most will be a one-of-a-kind creation, including small fabric pictures. The shopping will begin in September once I get the website back up and running, so please stay tuned!
